Closure

IMG_8145.JPGMy Dear Method Family,

I’m sure you’ve been expecting this announcement, so here it is.

In the wake of this madness we’re in right now, Method will be shutting down classes for the remainder of the month.

I’ll be re-assessing as the time goes by to figure out how to best progress and if the closure will extend or end in April as more information becomes available.

This is totally unprecedented and to be entirely honest, I don’t know what the future looks like yet.  I’m living moment to moment by my personal mantra, “there is a solution, I just don’t know what it is yet”.  Because right now, this is an incredibly scary time for small businesses, and in my case, a business that relies on the close physical contact that BJJ demands.

At this point, being able to re-open for April is only a very skeptical maybe as in Canada we’re taking as pro-active a response as we can to “flatten the curve” to reduce the speed and volume of contagion, and taking the best care possible of the most vulnerable members of our society.

My hope is that members would be able to continue to pay dues so we would have a school to come back to once things make more sense, because as a small business I operate within tight margins that don’t allow for a total loss of revenue for an extended period of time.  I understand that this is a big ask, and if you’re unable to do that, I totally get it.  These are uncertain times for a lot of us.  My goal would be to offer privates, seminars and to directly reimburse how and when I’m able.  Method is my house and home, and I’m humbled and honoured that you call it your jiu jitsu home. I value you all so much, and I will work my butt off to repay your generosity and the honour of your continued commitment to my school.

I miss you already, and I’m crushed that I don’t get to see you all soon and show you the rest of this curriculum that you’ve been doing such a good job of learning and incorporating into your game, but the hope is that we’ll be able to return to normal and get back to beating the crap out of each other soon.

If you have questions please don’t hesitate to ask (in a separate private message please). I certainly have the time to answer them, and even I can only work on the splits so much (goal for the next two weeks is to get my handstands back!).

If you would like ideas of things you could work on, or mobility and flexibility resources, please hit me up, I’ll be doing the same thing here at my house.

Hugs n kisses, (only over the internet)

Andrew
